India's power secretary said on Tuesday the government would make energy efficiency labelling mandatory for automobiles by August, a move aimed to help energy conservation.
Chennai-based Bavina Cars India Ltd on Friday received the allotment letter for its battery-powered car plant in Ranipet. Bavina Cars has committed to invest Rs 300 crore in this project.

ET reported that consumers have begun coming back to car showrooms following the recent cut in interest rates. But manufacturers say a further excise cut would fuel faster growth in the coming months.
Bigger cars will be cheaper as the government on Monday reduced additional excise duty on those with engine capacities of 2,000cc and above by Rs 5,000 per unit. It also cut the duty of petrol-driven trucks to eight per cent from 20 per cent at present.
